Enterprise Donates $3 Million to Fisher House Foundation
Enterprise has been renowned for years due to the company’s dedication to charity, and that continued Thursday when the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation announced a $3 million commitment to the Fisher House Foundation.
For those unaware, the Fisher House Foundation is a non-profit organization that supplies no-cost lodging to the families of armed forces veterans receiving treatment at military medical centers.
According to Enterprise, the car-rental company has donated $3 million to the Fisher House Foundation on top of an initial contribution in 2013. The latest donation will be distributed as three annual $1 million gifts.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation vice president and executive director, Carolyn Kindle, released a statement about the company’s donations to the Fisher House Foundation:
“Enterprise’s support of the military focuses on three key areas – recruitment and hiring, local operations and community relations. Our continued support of the Fisher House is just one more way for us to thank our nation’s heroes and their families for their service, which is especially meaningful as we celebrate Memorial Day. Supporting military members and their families has been a part of our company’s heritage since it was founded nearly six decades ago.”
The intention of the money from Enterprise to the Fisher House Foundation is made clear as well. The first $750,000 of the yearly donation of $1 million goes to the Heroes’ Legacy Scholarship program, which helps children of veterans who have died or have become disabled through their active military service.
The other $250,000 will be used to build homes on the grounds of major military and Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers. The houses will be used by families of veterans.
Enterprise is also military-friendly in terms of offering jobs to service men and women. According to the car rental company, almost 10 percent of the Enterprise workforce in the United States is made up of veterans and reservists.
Since joining the 100,000 Jobs Mission coalition, the company has added more than 6,000 military veterans to its staff.
