Hertz Global Holdings announced Monday that its Hertz UK brand has launched a full rental service from Sofitel London Gatwick Hotel at Gatwick Airport.
As a result of the launch, Hertz has become the only car rental company to have a fleet available at the London airport's North Terminal.
The good news is passengers landing at the North Terminal will no longer be forced to take a shuttle to the South Terminal to collect their vehicle, though Hertz will still operate its existing branch at the South Terminal as well.
The new Hertz UK branch will be located in the lobby of the Sofitel hotel and will be easily accessible by travelers moving through the airport's North Terminal.
"The opening of our new branch at Gatwick Airport's North Terminal represents an important milestone in our UK expansion," Hertz vice president Rafael Girona said in a statement. "Hertz is now the only car rental provider to have vehicles as well as a desk at the North Terminal."
"This advantage means that Hertz customers do not need to travel between terminals to collect their car," Girona continued. "With some of the most important European and US airlines flying to and from the North Terminal, we trust our new branch will be welcomed by travelers who need to hit the road quickly."

The addition of a second branch inside Gatwick Airport is part of Hertz's ongoing investment in the expansion of its UK network. The car rental company also recently opened a new location in Penzance to serve both the region's locals and tourists.
Hertz is making a wise decision increasing its presence at Gatwick Airport, as it is the UK's second largest airport and hosted 43.1 million passengers in 2016.
