Hertz Offering High-Performance Shelby GT Rental Cars for 50th Anniversary
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the world-renowned muscle car, the Shelby GT350-H, Ford Motor Company, Shelby American and The Hertz Corporation have teamed up to offer new versions of the Shelby GT-H for rental starting this Memorial Day weekend.
The performance-modified 2016 Ford Mustang GTs are custom made for the Hertz rental experience, and hearken back to the famed Shelby GT350-H “Rent-A-Racer” program of the 1960s.
The new Shelby GT-Hs will be available for rental exclusively through the Hertz Adrenaline Collection at specific airport locations in the United States.
“For nearly 100 years, understanding our customers’ needs and interests has remained at the forefront of our business,” Hertz Global Holdings vice president Matt Jauchius said in a statement. “This special 50th anniversary edition of the Ford Shelby GT-H not only underscores our commitment to deliver a fun and personalized rental experience, but it also has helped Hertz become the premium brand it is today. It’s sure to be an exhilarating drive for anyone who has the chance to get behind the wheel of this one-of-a-kind ride.”
What separates the 2016 Ford Shelby GT-H from other cars—and even other Shelby models—is the distinctive look and the performance packages. The Hertz edition of the muscle car will be painted black with the iconic dual racing stripes painted gold. The vehicle will also feature Hertz Edition emblems on the front fenders, Hertz Shelby GT-H sill plates and a numbered badge.
As for performance, the vehicles will be built with 5.0 liter V8 engines, specially designed vented hoods, carbon fiber front splitters and rear spoilers. The Shelby GT-Hs will also be equipped with the Ford Racing Handling Pack, ensuring the most horsepower to the tires and the best handling possible from the vehicles.
