Hertz Offers Money-Saving Tips for Car Rentals This Summer

As families prepare to take their annual vacations, Hertz Global Holdings, Inc. and the National Association of Realtors have teamed up to share some tricks and tips for saving money on your car rental this summer.

The first tip is to examine a car rental company’s loyalty program. Hertz offers the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards program, which offers unique benefits and additional savings, but most companies in the industry have some form of a reward program.

Another suggestion for saving money on your next rental is considering the extras your family may need and pricing them out ahead of time. Factors like the size of the car, whether child safety seats are needed, the need for additional insurance, navigation systems and more can all raise the price of the rental.

One tip that many customers forget at times is ensuring that you are completely educated on the conditions of the rental contract. With an abundance of potential fees and penalties, understanding what to expect is half the battle.

For travelers using an airplane to get to their destination, trying to pick whether to rent a vehicle at the airport or at an off-airport location is a big decision. With many hotels offering a shuttle from the airport to their front desks, using a rental car facility outside the airport could be cheaper.

The final tip will be to determine when and how long you need the rental car. With weekly rentals sometimes offering savings over shorter rentals and weekdays rates typically lower, do the research before renting the car and reap the savings in the long run.
