Looking to score a great deal on your next rental car? Who doesn’t? Sometimes the costs and fees involved can seem overwhelming, but the folks at Kayak have put together a couple of tips for road warriors heading out in a rental.

Number one: Pay attention to when you book.

According to Kayak, two weeks out is still the time to buy.

The second tip — there is no magic day.

“While Wednesday sees the highest median price ($38), the lowest is only $3 behind. Looks like the myth of there being a magic day to rent your car just doesn’t hold weight,” notes Kayak.

If you are going to fly and drive, Florida is where you are going to score the best rates.

“When it comes to renting a car, Florida swept the board for having the lowest median daily rates. On the flip side, our data found that renting in smaller Midwestern cities (think: Des Moines) and Alaska had the highest median rates,” says Kayak.
