On Tuesday, Vacations By Rail announced that it would be adding a rail/cruise cultural exchange tour to Cuba starting on Feb. 9, 2016.
Vacations By Rail—a provider of rail travel and tours in North America—created a 12-day people-to-people cultural exchange program that will first transport guests from New York to Miami on the Amtrak Silver Meteor train.
Once in Florida, customers will then board Haimark Line’s MS Saint Laurent for a cruise to the island of Cuba. During the nine-night cruise aboard the MS Saint Laurent, the ship will make stops at ports of call that include Havana, Maria La Gorda, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba, Baracoa, Alejandro de Humboldt National Park and Holgui.
Vacations By Rail CEO Todd Powell released a statement, saying, “As travel regulations to Cuba continue to relax, we are seeing a huge pent-up demand by our customers for the Cuban experience, and we’re pleased we can now offer them the opportunity to visit through our newest rail/cruise product. Now is a great time for travelers who love music, food, culture, architecture and history to enjoy the rousing rhythms, lavish landscapes and friendly locals that make Cuba a top travel destination.”
The voyage will also feature stops at UNESCO World Heritage Sites, live musical performances from locals, educational activities, cultural immersion experiences and several tours of the once forbidden land.
Prices for the Cuba by Rail & Cruise package start at $5,353 per person, which includes all meals, hotel accommodations, a train ticket, access to the nine-night cruise and select tours and activities during the trip.
