WATCH: Rental Car’s Tailgate Destroyed By Airplane Taking Off in Greece

A family who rented a car while on vacation in Greece was in for a real surprise when their vehicle was heavily damaged by the engines of an airplane preparing to takeoff from the airport on Skiathos island.

According to the Daily Mail, many tourists stand close to a fence behind the runway at Skiathos Island National Airport to get an up close and personal look at planes taking off. One group of tourists wanted to see the action front row, and parked their car behind the runway with its tailgate wide open.

When the Monarch Airlines Boeing 757 revved its engines to take off from the airport, the wind generated snapped the hinges of the tailgate and bent it backwards, smashing the glass and leaving it stuck upwards.

After the plane takes off, the group of people who are using the car can be seen assessing the damage as other Good Samaritans come over to offer any assistance. Unfortunately, the only help the group needed was explaining to the car rental facility exactly how the back end of the car was destroyed.
