After a record number of passengers rode Amtrak trains last holiday season, the rail line is adding trains and capacity this year. Busy areas in the Northeast, Midwest and West Coast will see the biggest increase, as Amtrak declared it would put every passenger car in its fleet into operation.

Greyhound has done a complete revamp of its website, improving its interaction with customers. There are new fare options, filtered search results, lots of details on routes, in-depth travel content, and more.

Ride the rails with Santa himself aboard Alaska Railroad’s super-popular Holiday Train. Departing from Anchorage, the abundance of kid-friendly good cheer aboard is matched only by the stunning landscapes outside.

Rail Europe is offering a bonanza of holiday deals. Book between Nov. 27 (Black Friday) and Dec. 4 and get money off on transportation across the Continent, along with such scenic trains as Switzerland’s GoldenPass Line, Glacier Express, Bernina Express and Wilhelm Tell Express.
