After a record number of passengers rode Amtrak trains last holiday season, the rail line is adding trains and capacity this year. Busy areas in the Northeast, Midwest and West Coast will see the biggest increase, as Amtrak declared it would put every passenger car in its fleet into operation.

Rail Europe is offering a bonanza of holiday deals. Book between Nov. 27 (Black Friday) and Dec. 4 and get money off on transportation across the Continent, along with such scenic trains as Switzerland’s GoldenPass Line, Glacier Express, Bernina Express and Wilhelm Tell Express.
