Zipcar and Showtime Join Forces for Free Drive-In Screenings
The shifting landscape of American entertainment may have shuttered many of the classic drive-in movie theaters, but a new partnership between car-sharing company Zipcar and the Showtime cable network could see a resurgence in the classic date night staple.
Zipcar and Showtime are joining forces to offer customers of the car sharing network the opportunity to attend a complimentary drive-in screening of the show Ray Donovan at 8 p.m. local time on Wednesday, July 8 in select cities across the country.
Customers in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, D.C. will have the chance to attend this special drive-in screening by reserving a car and a space for the event. The drive-in theaters will be airing the first two episodes of Ray Donovan’s third season.
As for the exact locations of the screenings, they will be revealed after customers book their vehicles successfully. Reservations can be made at Zipcar’s official website.
Zipcar Chief Marketing Officer Brian Harrington released a statement about the partnership with Showtime, saying, “This exclusive drive-in screening is yet another example of the benefits of being a Zipcar member. Drive-in movies are the ultimate outdoor summer activity to be enjoyed with family and friends—and Zipcar gives you the freedom to get you there.”
In addition to the free screening of the critically-acclaimed show before it actually airs on television for the first time, customers will be treated to free food via food trucks and catering, a photobooth and opportunities to take photos in luxury cars.
