A River Cruise Trip To Be Remembered

Emerald Waterways is bringing the next generation of river cruising to Europe, offering sailings on the Rhine, Main, Danube, Souro, Moselle and Rhone rivers aimed at attracting the four-star-plus market.
A trip aboard an Emerald Waterways is a trip to be remembered thanks to its deluxe ships and fantastic all-inclusive pricing that covers everything from soup to nuts and quite a bit more, including unlimited drinks with lunch and dinner, complimentary Wi-Fi on board and a tantalizing array of canapes and after-dinner treats.
So what makes an Emerald Waterways cruise so special?
Let us count the ways.
Sail with the Stars. Emerald Waterways’ custom-built Star-Ships are known for providing more space per guest than most other cruise lines and offer five types of cabins from which to choose. Of particular note is the Emerald Panorama Balcony Suite, which features something altogether new—an indoor balcony where with just the touch of a button the upper part of the cabin’s window slides down providing an unparalleled view of the river bank as it glides by.
Onboard dining and highlight meals. Emerald Waterways takes dining to new heights with delicious meals prepared with the freshest, highest quality ingredients available. Whether it’s dinner in the Reflections Restaurant or a light breakfast or lunch on the Terrace, passengers are treated to delectable meals that draw their inspiration from the countries and cities Emerald Waterways visits. What’s more, onboard dining and highlight meals as well as all beverages including complimentary beer, wine, soft drinks and coffee are included.
Complimentary excursions. As part of their fare, passengers have the opportunity to partake in an excursion almost every day when they sail aboard an Emerald Waterways river cruise. Each excursion and experience is chosen to enhance their passengers’ understanding of the region they are visiting. Other excursions are available at a nominal fee as part of the cruise line’s Discover More tour program.
So whether it’s a visit to the 13th-century town of Cesky-Krumlov, which is today a UNESCO World Heritage site, or a walking tour of Passau, passengers will leave having greater insight into the area’s culture and history.
Other favorite excursions include visits to the Bruhl and Schönbrunn Castles, a Rhine Valley wine tasting, city tours of Salzburg and Rothenburg, a 13.5 mile bike tour to Traben-Trarbach, a full day in Bratislava and a visit and tasting at the Hofkeller Winery, which is considered to be among the world’s oldest. Passengers may also opt for an excursion to Varna and the Black Sea; an evening concert in Vienna; a visit to the National Opera Theatre in Belgrade; a trip to Bucharest’s Snagov Monastery, the supposed burial site of Vlad the Impaler; and a cruise to the Weltenburg Abbey and Daube Gorge near Regensburg.
And, as the icing on the cake, transfers and tips (onboard and excursion) are included as part of the cruise fare.
EmeraldPlus. Emerald Waterways takes shore excursions to a new level, thanks to its EmeraldPlus program, where passengers can immerse themselves in a culture or destination at no additional charge. Depending on the destination, passengers may find themselves taking tea with a Slovakian family or on a cruise through Amsterdam’s maze of canals. Some EmeraldPlus experiences, such as clog painting seminars (offered as part of the Netherlands & the Beauty of Belgium itinerary) or a cooking demonstration (offered as part of the Secrets of the Douro cruise), take place on board.
