Adventures by Disney has added two more river cruises in 2016 as part of its new partnership with AmaWaterways, which was announced in April.
The new departures — Aug. 4 and Dec. 15, 2016 — are “due to the incredible success we’ve seen in the bookings for these cruises over the last month,” an Adventures by Disney spokeswoman said.
Disney is offering five sailings on the Danube River in summer 2016 through Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. Two holiday-themed sailings in December 2016 include visits to the renowned Christmas markets along the Danube.
Each sailing will include eight Disney Adventure Guides. Special activities for young travelers include activity nights, movies, karaoke, relay games, life-size chess lessons, video games and more. Teens will also find activities and themed nights for them.
The Disney river cruises will be onboard the new 170-passenger AmaViola, which is being built by AmaWaterways with families in mind. New family-friendly design elements include six sets of connecting staterooms and some rooms and suites that accommodate three- and four-person families.
The seven-night Adventures by Disney sailings will depart July 7, July 14, July 21, July 28 and Aug. 4, 2016. Highlights include a nighttime illuminations cruise and horse show in Hungary, a private marionette performance and strudel-making demonstration at Schonbrunn Palace and a falconry show in Austria, and Oktoberfest event at a local brewery in Germany.
The Dec. 15, 2016, holiday sailing will feature a private performance and cocktail reception at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, a private visit to Schloss Hof and more. The Dec. 22, 2016, departure will include visits to Christmas markets in Budapest and Vienna, a Vienna Boys Choir Christmas performance in the Hofburg Palace Chapel, a holiday menu lunch and more.
