Carnival Corporation is on a mission to treat its guests royally onboard its Princess Cruises and Seabourn Cruise Line brands. So, Princess presents its Princess Luxury Bed for better sleep, and Seabourn is delivering spa treatments from Dr. Andrew Weil.
In its seventh annual Relaxation Report by Wakefield Research, Princess discovered that 72% of working Americans take off at least one day per year just to sleep, and 40% take five days or more annually to simply catch up on sleep. Alternatively, 68% have used a vacation day not as intended: either for family emergencies (37%), doctor’s or dentist’s appointments (36%), sick days for their children or loved ones (31%), home projects (23%) and running household errands (23%).
Even 65% of millennials, including yours truly, say that they opt out of certain events and activities on vacation because they feel too tired. Also keeping Americans up at night are the current election proceedings with 54% claiming Donald Trump for restless nights and 46% Hillary Clinton.
Thankfully, Princess has a solution for better use of one’s vacation time and sleep – its voyages and its new Princess Luxury Bed developed in partnership with designer Candice Olson and sleep expert Dr. Michael Breus.
“Sleep and relaxation should be a guilt-free necessity every person should seek in their day.” said Dr. Breus, board-certified sleep expert. “We all want to get the sleep we need while on vacation, but sometimes being in a new place and sleeping in an unfamiliar environment will disrupt a good night's sleep. This is why I’ve partnered with Princess Cruises to design a luxury mattress and sleep program that will deliver the most restful, rejuvenating sleep at sea.”
Seabourn Cruise Line
Taking a holistic approach to wellness partnerships is Seabourn Cruise Line teamed up with Dr. Andrew Weil. The new Spa and Wellness program comes from The Onboard Spa by Steiner and focuses on physical, social, environmental and spiritual well-being.
An onboard Wellness Guide, a certified yoga and meditation practitioner, will lead complimentary classes that will first be introduced on the line’s upcoming new Seabourn Encore in 2017, with Dr. Weil himself onboard the inaugural sailing. The program will then rollout fleet-wide through 2017 and aboard the next Seabourn Ovation in 2018.
Additional Mind and Body seminars will delve into the following:
• Spontaneous Happiness & Spontaneous Healing
• Anti-inflammatory foods
• Healthy Aging
• Introduction to Mindful Meditation
"This new wellness program will offer our guests an experience they simply won't find anywhere else in the industry," said Richard Meadows, president of Seabourn. "By partnering with Dr. Weil, a pioneer in integrative medicine, we will deliver an even greater degree of mind and body programs that ensure you can break away, relax and rejuvenate while you travel with us. We're eager to share the full slate of offerings as a part of Seabourn Encore's inaugural sailing as another component of the Extraordinary Worlds of Seabourn."
