Do you know exactly how many ships survived the Battle of Yavin after the Death Star was destroyed? If so, great. You’re one step closer to going on one of the most exclusive movie cruises to launch from port.
The other seemingly small part is procuring the £104,000 (about $137,000) necessitated to ship with Bolsover Cruise Club’s Ultimate Cruise for Movie Fans.
Of course, we all love a good red carper cordoned off by a velvet rope. It just makes us want to skip over that rope and experience luxury. Well, this is that exact travel experience...if you have the means and the knowledge. You see, simply being Mr. Money Bags isn’t enough to get on this adventure around the world. You actually have to know your stuff, because passage means answering at least 14 of these 16 movie questions.
The website does note that some guests who don’t answer these correctly will be let on the ship, but it will be by a “case-by-case basis.”
And these aren’t easy questions thanks to a collaboration with blog, FlickeringMyth.com.
For example, please tell us the answer to the following: “Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy begins with an opening monologue from Cate Blanchett’s Galadriel. But who is the first character to actually speak on screen?”
Now we believe it’s Gandalf in a voice-over but can’t be sure. The DVDs might be close but we aren’t what one would call cheaters.
We encourage you to brush up on these movies, because they will come in handy as you visit a wide expanse of the world.
The itinerary shows you what your thousands of dollars will get you.
For one, you get six months of pure luxury, which starts with voyage on the opulent Seven Seas Voyager in Venice with travel to Barcelona.
From there you will witness some stunning backdrops movie buffs will recognize from such movies as “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly,” “Jaws,” Pretty Woman,” “Jurassic World” and, yes, “The Lord of The Rings.”
It’s really one of the only trips wherein you can say you’ve traveled from Europe to New York to Boston to the Bahamas to Los Angeles and then to Hawaii.
Oh, but that would just mean you have New Zealand, Phuket and Abu Dhabi to look forward to.
It’s an immersive look at scenery you have already admired while munching popcorn from home.
Now, some of you fortunate souls will get to step off the plane or cruise ship and see where the cameras rolled and actors battled sharks, dinosaurs or dark lords searching for the one ring.
But like any great movie character, you have to prove your worth with the test to end all movie cruise tests.
