Carnival Cruise Lines Gives Forgetful Family Make-Up Cruise

It seems there's always something that gets left behind when traveling.
Unfortunately for a Houston mother and her two sons, that something turned out to be passports prior to boarding a Carnival Cruise Lines ship bound for Cozumel last year.
After realizing what she'd left behind, Carlette Collins frantically reached out to her ex-husband, requesting him to send her photos of the passports. But by the time he did, it was already too late.
The ship wound up departing the terminal in Galveston without the family onboard and Collins was out a year's worth of savings because the tickets were non-refundable and she didn't have trip insurance.
But despite the nightmarish mishap, Collins and her sons have been given a second chance to enjoy a cruise for the first time later this year.
After reaching out to the cruise line with the help of KRIV FOX 26 reporter Isiah Carey, a Carnival representative agreed to review the circumstances surrounding Collins' situation, and the result was a make-up cruise that Collins and her children can take whenever they want
"It was great and it was wonderful, wonderful news," said Collins.
The family will likely take the complimentary cruise this coming December, around the same time they had planned to go last year.
Still, Collins' tale is a cautionary one, a reminder that cruise passengers heading out of the country should always double check to make sure they have the necessary documents prior to boarding. After all, Carnival acknowledges that the awarded make-up cruise is a one-time deal unique to Collins' situation.
And if you tend to forget things, you might want to think about investing in travel insurance; that way an honest mistake won't set you back.
