Carnival LIVE Adds Stand-Up With Kathy Griffin

Carnival Cruise Line is mixing things up with its Carnival LIVE program by adding comedy acts to its recently announced musical concerts with the introduction of two-time Emmy and Grammy award-winning comedian Kathy Griffin to the lineup in February 2016.
Carnival LIVE grants guests a specialty entertainment option to see popular acts at an affordable subsidized price onboard their cruise. Griffin will perform in the main theater for two voyages while docked in Cozumel aboard Carnival Fantasy on February 24 and Carnival Breeze on Feb. 25. She will effectively go from the line’s oldest to newest ship from one day to the next, which is sure to factor into her no-holds-barred humor.
“I’m very excited to be part of Carnival LIVE and bring my standup to the high seas,” Griffin said. “I encourage everyone to bring an open mind, a galley full of laughter and your comedy life vests…oh, and leave your kids in the stateroom because the ‘Fantasy’ and the ‘Breeze’ won’t know what hit ‘em when I take the stage.”
Carnival Cruise Line is no stranger to comedy. It has had much success with The Punchliner Comedy Club Presented by George Lopez across the fleet. Perhaps the only surprise is that George Lopez himself is not included in the Carnival LIVE lineup, but that could always change at a later date.
For the time being, Griffin will take to the stage with her perpetual pop-cultural and political humor that has granted her a position in the Guinness Book of World Records for writing and performing in 20 television specials, more than any other comedian.
“Kathy Griffin’s unique brand of humor has attracted legions of loyal fans and we’re delighted to kick off our first-ever Carnival LIVE comedy performances with two shows by this accomplished comedian, actress and author,” said Sarah Beth Reno, vice president of entertainment for Carnival Cruise Line.
In the middle of Carnival’s pricing range, general admission tickets to see Griffin onboard will run just $50, and VIP tickets will sell for $200, including a seat in the first four rows, a photo-op with her and a commemorative concert pass.
