The excitement surrounding the Celestyal Cruises brand is climbing as the company announced it would be re-adding a completely refurbished and renamed ship to its fleet, dubbed the Celestyal Nefeli.
Celestyal made the announcement of the new ship last week during a ceremony to unveil a two-year extension to the line's homeporting program in Turkey. The vessel will be delivered to the company in February 2016.
Built in 1992 as the MS Gemini, the Celestyal Nefeli will be able to carry 1,074 passengers in 400 cabins—277 outside and 123 inside—including 12 executive suites (most feature private balconies) and 31 junior suites.
The newly revamped Celestyal Nefeli has been commissioned to replace the Celestyal Odyssey when its charter agreement ends in October. The ship will join the Celestyal Crystal and Celestyal Olympia in serving the Eastern Mediterranean.
The extension of Celestyal Cruises’ homeporting program in Turkey was also big news, as the company announced itineraries which will leave from Istanbul, Izmir and Kusadasi aboard the Celestyal Nefeli.
For 2016, Celestyal will be bolstering the number of themed events it adds to its itineraries, with a focus on Greek and Turkish cultures, history and cuisine.
