Last week, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced the winners of the 2016 Cruise Industry Hall of Fame Awards.
According to CLIA's official website, the award ceremony took place during the Hall of Fame Cruise Industry Awards dinner at the CLIA Cruise360 conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, on June 2. The conference was held at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

The awards will be presented to the individuals and organizations that represent the most significant contributions to the cruise industry over the last year. Contenders were nominated and winners selected by CLIA Members earlier in 2016.
"Each year, the selection process is extremely difficult as the nominees included some of the brightest, most talented, hard-working individuals that are truly dedicated to advance the cruise industry," CLIA president and CEO Cindy D'Aoust said in a statement. "The 2016 Hall of Fame Award Cruise Industry Winners represent the best of cruising and we are proud to honor them with this recognition."
The first awards handed out at the CLIA Cruise360 conference were the Lifetime Achievement Awards. This year, Bill Smith from Virtuoso and Rudi Schreiner of AmaWaterways received the distinguished honors.

Another award handed out at the conference was the Travel Agency Innovator Award, bestowed upon Cruises & Tours Unlimited in Jacksonville, Florida, for their innovative approach to promoting the benefits and value of cruise travel.
There also was an honor bestowed at the Cruise360 conference dubbed the Rising Star Award, presented to Christine Brown from Expedia Cruise Ship Centers Summerlin.
