Summer may be over, but the fun is just getting started on the high seas.
This upcoming October is National Plan a Cruise Month, the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) announced Wednesday.
The month-long fall campaign will be highlighted by a plethora of cruise offers, including chances to win free cruise vacations.
"National Plan a Cruise Month puts cruise vacations in the spotlight, helping travelers discover all the incredible experiences that a cruise vacation offers," CLIA acting CEO Cindy D'Aoust said in a statement. "Today there are more cruise vacation options than ever before, ranging from ocean and river cruising to yachting and paddlewheeler cruises."
CLIA announced that several cruise lines are offering special deals for travelers who book next month, including promotions offering as much as $1,500 in savings in addition to free upgrades and packages once on board.
"We want to spread the love of cruising during National Plan a Cruise Month through incredible offers and deals as well as fantastic chances to win cruise vacations," added D'Aoust.
In addition to some excellent deals, travelers can test their luck and take to social media all month long for a chance to win a free cruise.
Nearly two dozen cruise lines have teamed up to award 31 free cruises from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31. To be eligible to win, users must submit a "cruise smile" photo to CruiseSmile.org or post the photo on Twitter or Instagram accompanied by the hashtags #CruiseSmile and #Sweepstakes.
A seven-night luxury cruise to Tahiti and the South Pacific and an eight-day European river cruise from Paris are among the free sailings that will be given away to lucky winners this fall.
Entrants must be at least 13 years old to participate and a winner will be selected each day. If you don't win, you'll have to submit a new photo the following day in order to be eligible for that day's giveaway.
In the meantime, travelers can visit Cruising.org to find a cruise agent capable of helping them capitalize on next month's offers.
