Crystal shared new details and images of its new expedition yacht, the 200-guest Crystal Endeavor, which is scheduled to enter service in 2020.
At 19,800 gross tonnage, the all-suite, polar-class yacht will be the largest expedition yacht in the world, according to Crystal.
"Crystal's entrance into the expedition cruising industry is a natural response to the demand from an increasing segment of travelers, craving more immersive and active experiences in lesser-known destinations around the world," Crystal President and CEO Tom Wolber said during a press briefing at Seatrade Cruise Global in Fort Lauderdale.
Crystal Endeavor's PC6 designation allows it to operate in summer and autumn through medium first-year ice. The ship will feature technological advancements, including offshore dynamic positioning capabilities.
The vessel will have restaurants and public spaces that appear on Crystal's ocean ships, as well as new venues. Like the rest of the fleet, the Crystal Endeavor will offer world-class cuisine and fine wines and premium spirits throughout.
Specialty restaurants will include Prego, which serves traditional Italian fare, and Umi Uma, serving sushi and specialties from Master Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Additionally, the yacht will have a main dining venue, Waterside; the Asian-inspired Silk Kitchen & Bar in the two-story solarium during the evenings; and the European-inspired Bistro Café, which will offer full-service breakfast and lunch as well as espresso and teas.
The Palm Court-a favorite spot for afternoon tea, cocktails, dancing and floor-to-ceiling views on the other ships-will be used on Crystal Endeavor for evening entertainment, enrichment presentations and classes.
Other public spaces are the Connoisseur Club cigar lounge; Crystal Cove for guest speakers, pre-dinner cocktails and late-night entertainment; and the only casino on an expedition yacht.
Wellness options will include a fitness center and the Crystal Life Spa and salon, with three treatment rooms, separate men's and women's steam and sauna facilities, a relaxation room and full-service salon services. The two-story pool deck will be enclosed under a glass-domed roof. Additionally, mud rooms are designed to accommodate preparation for the day's adventures and offer cleaning of boots and equipment upon guests' return from a day exploring ashore.
