Crystal Cruises announced new details about Crystal Serenity's redesign during Seatrade Cruise Global. The ship will enter dry dock in October 2018 for a three-week refurbishment. It will emerge with enhancements that mirror, and in some ways exceed, those that debuted on Crystal Symphony in 2017.
"Our ocean vessels are the heart of the Crystal brand and represent the pillars of our company that our guests have embraced for more than 27 years," Crystal President and CEO Tom Wolber said. "We will continue to invest in their success with an eye to innovation and a design aesthetic that is pleasing to our guests of today and tomorrow."
The redesign will add 36 new Penthouses and two new Penthouse Suites in place of verandah staterooms on Penthouse Deck 10. They'll offer butler service, walk-in closets, spa-like bathrooms and square footage of 403 and 538 square feet, respectively.
The upgrade will reduce the ship's capacity from 1,070 guests to 980 guests, while the number of crew on board will remain the same.
In the dining category, the ship will debut open seating. New venues include Waterside, taking the place of Crystal Dining Room. The Marketplace and Churrascaria are new daytime and evening restaurants in the current Lido Café. And Silk Kitchen & Bar will replace what is now Tastes. Chinese comfort food served family style is on the menu.
Public space enhancements include new finishes and furnishings in Palm Court and The Stardust Club. And The Computer University@Sea facilities will be upgraded, as well.
Crystal Serenity's first sailing after dry dock is a Nov. 10, 2018, cruise from Lisbon to Fort Lauderdale.
