Queen Mary 2 is undergoing an extensive overhaul to its staterooms, improving an already top-shelf experience for luxury travelers.
The ship’s parent company, Cunard Line, announced Tuesday in a statement that it would be redesigning the Britannia Club Balcony staterooms and adding new Britannia Single staterooms, on top of plans to refurbish all pre-existing Britannia Club Balcony cabins.
While the company is focused on keeping the ship’s iconic art deco heritage intact, this week's statement read, the long-term goal is to also add all the amenities and options needed to keep the Queen Mary 2 at the forefront of luxury cruising.
The liner will undergo a 25-day refit at the Blohm + Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany. While being overhauled, the Queen Mary 2 will receive many upgrades, Cunard said, including the addition of 30 new Britannia Club Balcony staterooms and 15 Britannia Single staterooms.
Cunard shared several images of the new Queen Mary 2 staterooms via Twitter:
Passengers who are members of the Britannia Club will also notice upgrades to the Britannia Club Restaurant, which, according to the statement, will offer guests a more intimate eating experience. Add in luxury amenities like 24-hour room service, nightly turndown service, satellite TV and more, and the ultimate luxury experience on the Queen Mary is going to get even more luxurious.
Cunard North America president Richard Meadows talked about these upgrades in the statement:
“Catering to the changing tastes of our guests is a priority at Cunard. According to the U.S. Travel Association, solo travelers comprise about 23 percent of all leisure travelers. In addition, we are seeing a strong demand for Britannia Club accommodations. We have carefully considered these needs in Queen Mary 2’s refit by rejuvenating the current Britannia Club staterooms and creating additional accommodations for these respective groups.”
