Holland America Line has a lot to be proud of.
The cruise line recently received three awards for its partnerships and programming, including the line's collaboration with O, The Oprah Magazine; Rudi's Sel De Mer restaurant and Alaskan cruises.
"We are always deeply honored when our brand is recognized for an initiative we worked tirelessly to develop or an experience that elevates who we are and what we deliver," said Orlando Ashford, Holland America Line's president, in a press release. "Thank you to the readers and decision-makers from Seatrade, AFAR and Kreuzfahrt Traume who awarded us with these three prestigious honors."
Holland America took home the 2017 Seatrade Cruise Award for Marketing Initiative of the Year for its partnership with O, The Oprah Magazine. The pairing of the publication's dedication to personal growth with the line's travel enrichment was recognized as were the brand's five theme cruises and special programming.
Motivational speakers are featured, as was Oprah Winfrey herself back in July 2017. The partnership continues with programming through 2018.
Also praised was Rudi's Sel de Mer by German publication Kreuzfahrt Traume as the Best New Restaurant Concept at the International German Cruise Awards. The dining venue-initially introduced on the line's newest Koningsdam as a solo restaurant before spinning off as a pop-up overlay available in the Pinnacle Grill of many other ships-is set to expand to the entire fleet next year.
Crafted and named after Holland America's Master Chef Rudi Sodamin, the seafood specialist focuses on classic French Mediterranean cuisine with contemporary flair, all while sourcing locally. The decor follows a brasserie in style.
Delicious dishes include Rudi's Seafood Tower, Bouillabaisse Marseillaise, Fruits de Mer, Duck Cassoulet, Souffle au Fromage and Salt Crust Baked Branzino. Featured desserts are Crepes Suzette, Profiteroles with Hot Chocolate Sauce and Rudi's famed Souffle-his take on the Salzburger Nockerl.
Holland America's legendary software is proof that the line has staying power with plenty of classic and new reasons to excite loyalists and attract guests fresh to the brand.
However, it continues to improve by creating a modern cruise line that upholds its storied past while dramatically looking to the future. The aforementioned Koningsdam propels the company in new directions that are influencing the remainder of the classic fleet as well as upcoming vessels. Its Nieuw Statendam sister-ship is scheduled to be launched in December 2018.
