Holland America Line's new Koningsdam will homeport at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale to operate Caribbean cruises in winter 2016-17. The 2,650-guest ship enters service in Europe in April 2016.
The ship will offer seven- to 11-day Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean cruises round-trip from Port Everglades. The Caribbean season will open for booking in April.
After a four-day Bahamas cruise, the Koningsdam will operate two seven-day itineraries. The first departs Jan. 8, Jan. 29 and Feb. 12, 2017, and visits Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas, and Half Moon Cay. The second itinerary departs Jan. 15 and Feb. 5, 2017, and visits Half Moon Cay, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Key West. The two itineraries can be combined.
The Dec. 23, 2016, seven-day cruise falls over Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, and calls at Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay.
A nine-day voyage departs Dec. 14, 2016, and calls at Half Moon Cay, Tortola, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, San Juan and Grand Turk. Another nine-day voyage departing Dec. 30 visits Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Key West, and Falmouth, Jamaica.
A 10-day itinerary departs Nov. 13 and Dec. 4, 2016, and Feb. 19 and March 12, 2017. Ports of call are Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, the new Amber Cove development on the Dominican Republic, Bonaire, Curaçao, and Aruba.
The 11-day Eastern Caribbean voyages depart Nov. 23, 2016, and March 1 and March 22, 2017, and sail to St. Lucia, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts, St. Thomas and Half Moon Cay.
The Koningsdam represents the new Pinnacle Class of ship. It will have new alternative restaurants including Sel de Mer, a French seafood brasserie; a farm-to-table dinner in the Culinary Arts Center; a re-designed Lido Market with themed serving stations; and familiar favorites such as Pinnacle Grill, Canaletto Italian restaurant and pan-Asian Tamarind. The ship also will feature Holland America Line's first purpose-built staterooms for families as well as single staterooms among its 1,331 guest accommodations.
On the entertainment front, the new Music Walk area will feature Lincoln Center Stage for nightly chamber music; Billboard Onboard with live musicians rocking chart-topping hits; and the popular B.B. King's Blues Club.
