It's farewell season in the Caribbean as several cruise ships are operating their final winter program in the sunny islands.

Seabourn will bid goodbye to two of its smaller luxury yachts in the spring while the Norwegian Epic will depart for year-round deployment in Europe.

Both cruise lines are promoting the final season to encourage fans to sail one last time on their favorite ship in the Caribbean.

"Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend have delivered countless unforgettable memories and special 'Seabourn Moments' over the years," said Seabourn President Richard Meadows. "We invite our guests to celebrate these fine ships and come back one more time to where it all began in the Caribbean."

In May, the 208-passenger Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend will move to the Windstar Cruises fleet, joining their sibling, the former Seabourn Pride, now known as Star Pride. The two vessels will be renovated before joining Windstar and will be renamed Star Breeze and Star Legend.

On Nov. 9, Seabourn Legend will begin a series of seven-day voyages between St. Maarten and Aruba and will end its Caribbean season with three seven-day round-trips from St. Thomas. Beginning Nov. 15, Seabourn Spirit will offer 18 seven-day cruises alternating between St. Maarten and Barbados. Both ships will visit islands such as St. Kitts, Antigua, St. Barts, Mayreau, Martinique and Îles des Saintes.

Seabourn's website shows all-inclusive fares as low as $1,999 for select departures in November and December.

Meanwhile, Norwegian Cruise Line's popular Norwegian Epic will operate its final Western Caribbean cruise on April 12. The ship is moving to Europe, where it will remain year-round for the foreseeable future. Norwegian's Caribbean plate is full with the new Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Escape (entering service next November) both based in Miami.

Norwegian Epic will head for Europe on a trans-Atlantic crossing April 19-30, and the first cruise from its new homeport in Barcelona departs May 3.

"She's moving for good," a Norwegian promotional email reads. "It's your last chance to cruise the Caribbean on Norwegian Epic."

Fares are pretty low right now, based on the Norwegian website. They start at $299 for an inside cabin and $449 for a balcony stateroom on Norwegian Epic through Dec. 14. In January, lead fares are $329 for an inside and $699 for a balcony.

With fares like that, it just might be worth it to bid farewell - at least until you can cruise on it again in Europe!
