There's a renewed interest in all things "Beauty and the Beast" with the live-action film coming out on March 17, 2017, and now the Disney Cruise Line is next set to reinterpret the original animated movie as a production show at sea aboard the Disney Dream in November.
The fairytale will come to life in the 1,340-seat Walt Disney Theatre, taking inspiration from both the animated and live-action versions and employing state-of-the-art modern technology to convey the classic narrative. As Disney does so well on stage, elaborate costuming and puppetry will service the story as its hit musical numbers are performed live with creative high-definition projections and engaging scenery.

Taking cues from the latest film, the setting will be imaginatively presented in the style of a music box along with the help of set designer, Jason Sherwood, and video designer, Aaron Rhyne, both who worked on the new "Frozen, A Musical Spectacular" on the Disney Wonder. Also on the creative team are director and choreographer Connor Gallagher ("Tangled: The Musical," "Found"), writer Sara Wordsworth ("Frozen, A Musical Spectacular," Broadway's "In Transit") and lighting designer Japhy Weideman.
The songs will definitely be at the center of the production with pieces from award-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman originally written for the animated film as well as two new ones crafted by Menken and lyricist Tim Rice for the new live-action one: "How Does a Moment Last Forever" and "Days in the Sun."
What's more, fresh arrangements and orchestrations by Matt Castle and Frank Galgano will give the production its own unique voice. Classics to be performed also include "Belle," "Something There," "Beauty and the Beast," "Gaston" and "Be Our Guest," given a full new multi-course treatment.

The Disney magic will also feature the enchanted objects in a unique fashion animated with expert costumes and puppets from costume designer Sarah Cubbage (Broadway's "Skylight") and puppet designer Lake Simons ("Etiquette Unraveled").
Thus, the likes of Lumiere, Mrs. Potts and Cogsworth will be uniquely realized to scale on stage.
The live show will first debut on November 6, 2017, joining "The Golden Mickeys" and "Disney's Believe," following the film premiere onboard and ashore on March 17, 2017.
