In a new limited-time program to launch July 6, Oceania Cruises is offering free shore excursions and other extras to people who book early.
It is the latest example of cruise lines bundling more amenities into fares to entice people to book early instead of waiting until the last minute in hopes of snagging a heavily discounted fare.
Oceania streamlined all of its incentives under the OLife Advantage banner to simplify and make clear what they get for booking further in advance.
To wit: Those who book a veranda stateroom or higher category on all spring, summer and fall 2016 voyages in Europe, Alaska and Canada/New England by Sept. 30 will get complimentary shore excursions, free unlimited internet and pre-paid gratuities.
While Oceania has traditionally bundled extras such as tips and air into the fare, this program goes further by including shore excursions and including a wide swath of departures.
“This is a new thing for Oceania,” Oceania President and COO Jason Montague told TravelPulse. “It’s designed to give them choice, because there are multiple shore excursions they can choose from. And we haven’t had a value-added promotion that’s across the board on all sailings for the season in Europe, Alaska and Canada/New England, so this is unprecedented for the brand.”
The OLife Advantage program provides three free excursions per person on sailings up to nine days, four free excursions on voyages between 10 and 13 days, and five free excursions on cruises 14 days or more. The promotion includes the inaugural season of Sirena, a sister ship to Oceania's original trio of ships.
