Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Improves Espresso for Group Bookings

Since first being introduced in 2015, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has now updated its acclaimed Espresso travel agent reservation system with enhanced features for booking groups.

The options make it easier for travel professionals to reserve clients on the corporation’s Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises brands, and Dondra Ritzenthaler, Senior Vice President of Sales for Celebrity provided Travel Pulse some added insight into the tool as well.

At its core, Espresso remains a robust resource for agents to gather and implement cruise line and client information intuitively, and the most popular feature is the single-view function, which compares individual and group fares, displays deck plans with best availability filtered by user criteria and shows guest profiles and offers.

The second wave of features were prompted by partner feedback, and as Ritzenthaler added, “We wanted to continue to be easy to do business with and have the best in class technology, to match our best in class ships.”

As such, the new group tools include the following:

~ Headquarter Groups – Members of a headquarter, a coop of travel agencies, can display and reserve their headquarter’s group inventory.

~ Simplified Groups Management – Agents are able to now reserve and manage all groups quicker.

~ Group Amenity Points Redemption – Client vacations can be enhanced with easily redeemed, shared and purchased group amenity plus points.

~ Streamlined Groups Payments – The group shell and group reservation payment system has also been simplified with a means to create guest invoices.

~ Expanded Groups Reporting – Group shell and group booking owners are able to craft and manage reports, plus book invoices and financial statements.

~ Enhanced Stateroom Availability Search – Agents can discover available staterooms and suites on multiple decks with interactive plans, encompassing the 50 best open cabins per category, as well as find accommodations nearest a specific stateroom thanks to the “Closest Stateroom” filter.

More features can be expected in the future as RCCL is looking to always better the website experience with new training and tools, and when asked if they are meant in part to incentivize bookings across all its companies, Ritzenthaler said, “Yes! Espresso 2.0 is a fantastic tool for all three of our brands.”

Regarding the features themselves, she also explained that, “I would say that Headquarter Groups is the most powerful and most beneficial new tool because now our agents can book into Headquarter Groups rather than having to take them out locally.”
