Seabourn Tests Commissionable All-Inclusive Program for Cruises

Seabourn is trying out an all-inclusive option for its cruises that includes air, shore excursions and pre- or post-cruise hotel stays. The new program pays commission to travel agents on the entire package.

Charlie Dunwoody, senior director-national accounts for Seabourn, mentioned the program during a panel at the CruiseOne and Cruises Inc. national conference in Orlando on Oct. 15. “If the test is successful, we will roll it out to the entire fleet,” Dunwoody said.

“This is a test through the end of October,” said Joann Taylor, manager of national accounts for Seabourn. “Then we’ll assess and see if we’ll roll it out in general.”  The “All-Inclusive Advantage Fares” include complimentary round-trip economy airfare with business-class upgrades available, one-night pre-cruise hotel stay, a shore excursion credit of up to $2,000 per suite, and complimentary transfers between airport, hotel and the ship.

The move comes as luxury cruise lines evolve to include different amenities in fares. Regent Seven Seas Cruises includes shore excursions, air and a hotel night with all cruises, and Crystal Cruises this year began including alcoholic beverages and gratuities in its fares.
