Silversea Cruises has spiced up its schedule with 26 food and wine theme cruises this year and next.
The all-inclusive luxury line offers the “L’école des Chefs by Relais & Châteaux” cooking school free of charge on select voyages. The program features a culinary curriculum, including hands-on instruction, hosted by David Bilsland, a former instructor at the Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in London.
Highlights include workshops on topics from basic knife skills and kitchen terminology to sauces and baking, cooking demonstrations with wine pairings and Q&A sessions, cooking competitions between Bilsland and the ship’s culinary team, and a “Lunch and Learn” event in which small groups sample specially prepared dishes.
On certain voyages, when the itinerary permits, a “Market to Plate” experience lets guests shop at a local market and then learn to prepare them at a cooking class onboard or at a Relais & Châteaux property.
On the wine-themed cruises, guests learn about the tradition and art of winemaking in complimentary tastings and lectures conducted by Silversea wine ambassador Lawrence d’Almeida, a wine production expert and former winemaker. Depending on the itinerary, guests also can explore celebrated wine regions on optional guided shore excursions. All Silversea sailings include a complimentary selection of fine red and white wines with lunch and dinner.

Two voyages pair both culinary and wine enrichment programs — the Silver Spirit’s 15-day trans-Atlantic crossing from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale departing Nov. 9 and a 21-day Brazil-focused sailing from Barbados to Buenos Aires departing Jan. 25.
