After a dry spell, pun intended, mostly without such aquatic elements, Royal Caribbean International is fully embracing elaborate onboard waterslides on its forthcoming new Harmony of the Seas and refurbished Liberty of the Seas. Besides a small kid-friendly waterslide perched on its existing Radiance-class ships, the line has not before prevalently featured waterpark attractions while its competition has. That is until now.
Liberty of the Seas
Royal Caribbean is going all in when the refreshed Liberty of the Seas will be revealed after a month long dry dock in February 2016, sailing from Galveston, Texas. Besides adding new stateroom and dining options, the ship will receive a complete collection of exciting aqua park features including a waterslide complex known as Perfect Storm and a kids zone known as Splashaway Bay.

The Perfect Storm will spotlight the Tidal Wave thrilling raft slide, the first Boomerango at sea, which takes a steep dive before propelling up a near vertical wall, a la skate park pipelines, for a sensation of weightlessness and then a swift return below. Opposite Tidal Wave will be two racing slides, Cyclone and Typhoon, that will speedily snake above the ship's Flowrider surf simulator. And kids will get the interactive Splashaway Bay and its water canyons, geysers and waterslide all to themselves.
Harmony of the Seas
When it launches, the Harmony of the Seas will take the title of the largest ever cruise ship, and onboard will offer an impressive set of waterslides and an aquatic play area for children. Like on Liberty, Harmony of the Seas will feature a Perfect Storm trio of waterslides, Cyclone and Typhoon racer slides reprised plus a new Supercell champagne bowl slide, suspended five decks above the ship's Central Park outdoor courtyard.

Not yet rendered is an all-ages thrill slide, the Ultimate Abyss, positioned at the stern of the ship with a 10-deck spiral from the Pool and Sports Zone to the Boardwalk open-air neighborhood far below. It will be the tallest slide at sea with a 100-foot total drop.

Finally, Harmony of the Seas will also present the colorful Splashaway Bay to the little ones for a fun interactive water experience including sea creature water cannons, waterslides of its own and a drench bucket looming above a jungle gym complete with several platforms for children to explore.
