Looking for a more adventurous cruise experience? AOL’s UK website has some suggestions for livening up your next sailing.

“While a cruise might not be the first thing that springs to mind when planning to go off the beaten track, you'll certainly venture to places you never imagined and many that can only be reached by sea,” writes Roshina Jowaheer.

One suggestion is to head to Antarctica.

“Antarctica provides the ultimate cruise adventure and is a bucket list experience, where your days on the white continent can be spent snowshoeing, hiking and camping under the stars bivouac-style,” writes Jowaheer.

In a warmer locale, Asia can offer a truly off-the-beaten-path experience.

“Asia is a marvelous place to explore by sea and in Burma you can travel to pristine stretches of tropical, coral-edged shoreline, swim off wild shell-sand beaches and snorkel in translucent water off uninhabited islets on an unusual and adventurous holiday,” says Jowaheer.

For those seeking an animal adventure, the Galapagos cannot be beat.

“Wildlife lovers looking to get the best from land and sea will adore the unspoiled Galapagos,” notes Jowaheer.
