The Queen Mary Going All Out for July 4 Celebration

The Fourth of July is one of the biggest celebrations in the United States each year, and The Queen Mary floating hotel and event center will play host to an all-ages party that will celebrate 100 years of American spirit and tradition.

According to a statement from The Queen Mary, the parties on board will feature entertainment, music, activities, food and fun, all capped off by those on deck getting a front-row look at a massive fireworks display.

The Queen Mary’s director of entertainment events, Steve Sheldon, shared a statement about the Fourth of July celebrations on board:

“We're outdoing ourselves with a Fourth of July Jubilee like no other. The Queen Mary is the only place in Southern California to truly celebrate one hundred years of Americana showcasing the best fireworks show in town.”

When The Queen Mary says it will take people through a living history of the last 100 years, it isn’t kidding. A plethora of actors, dancers and other performers were hired to dress and act as if they’re in different decades throughout the ship.

The early portion of the century will be represented by a legitimate traveling circus, the 1920s can be found at the Gatsby Garden Party, the prohibition period is represented in the speakeasy style bars and the 40s are adorned with WWII representations and features the Pete Jacobs Wartime Revue.

As if that wasn’t enough, the ship’s festivities also include the Nifty Fifty Drive-In Diner representing the 50s, performances by Motor City Magic and Disco Kings representing the 60s and 70s respectively, a full-blown arcade representing the 80s and a combination of a laser tag rave and country music tailgate representing the 90s.

With 100 years of history coming to life on board the retired luxury cruise ship for the Fourth of July, there are few places in Southern California that would make for a better holiday.
