AmaWaterways is introducing two new river ships in Europe next year as well as a new itinerary in Bordeaux, France, and more theme cruises focusing on wine and art.
The new 158-passenger sister ships AmaViola and AmaStella will have some connecting cabins, which are appreciated by families and groups traveling together.
Most of the accommodations on the ships will have the line’s signature Twin Balconies — one full balcony and a French balcony in each stateroom or suite. The vessels also will have marble-appointed bathrooms, multi-jet showerheads, plush linens, salon and massage services, fitness rooms, and heated pools with swim-up bars. Complimentary unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks are available with lunch and dinner; complimentary bottled water is provided daily in all staterooms.
The new first-ever “Taste of Bordeaux” itineraries will begin in spring 2016 aboard the 146-passenger AmaDolce. There will be 26 departures of the seven-night cruises on the Garonne River in the famed wine region. Travelers can visit Bordeaux’s famous chateaus and vineyards with stops at Cadillac’s Roquetaillade Castle, a Medoc wine tasting in Pauillac, an excursion at Chateau de Montaigne in Libourne, and more.
Based on enthusiastic response and continued demand, AmaWaterways has more than doubled its wine-themed cruise offerings for 2016, offering a total of 38 sailings on the Seine, Douro, Danube, Rhine and Rhone rivers. The seven-night cruises will be led by expert wine hosts and include seminars and tours on the culture and winemaking traditions of each region.
AmaWaterways’ art-themed itineraries aboard AmaLegro include Monet’s home in Giverny, Auvers-sur-Oise in Conflans, and Musee d’Orsay in Paris. The voyage will offer complimentary onboard painting classes and workshops led by expert instructors. Materials such as canvasses and easels are provided onboard by AmaWaterways.
