To further promote Plan a Cruise Month, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has provided a list of reasons why the organization believes cruising is the preferred form of travel over shoreside vacations. After all, even though the majority of Americans have still never taken a cruise, cruising continues to grow rapidly and is outpacing its shoreside counterparts by 22 percent in the United States according to CLIA's 2016 State of the Cruise Industry report.

"Cruise travelers know that cruising offers a chance to completely customize your vacation and create the trip of your dreams," said Cindy D'Aoust, president and CEO, CLIA. "The benefits of cruise travel over land-based travel are exponential and the cruise industry is excited to share them with travelers in honor of Plan a Cruise Month."

Convenient Cruising

The first cruise benefit CLIA cites is the overall convenience of cruise travel. Passengers can easily embark from many regional homeports or depart from an ever-expanding list of international ports. Once embarked, a whole world of destinations await as cruising provides the best sampler of a region without the need to hotel hop. Just unpack once, relax and enjoy as much or as little as you like.

A Cruise for Every Traveler

There truly is a cruise suited to all personalities and even ages with plenty for children to adults to enjoy onboard. Besides, many large cruise ships are now destinations unto themselves should you decide not to disembark at all. Others still are smaller with a greater emphasis on ports-of-call. It's just a matter of finding the one that best matches your preferences.

Diverse Destinations

Between ocean and river cruises, as well as expedition sailings, there is no shortage of destinations to be visited, from the most iconic, like Venice, to the most remote, like Antarctica. Lines such as Silversea with its Silversea Cruises and Silversea Expeditions brands seemingly go to every coastal destination possible.

They can also assist is selecting shore excursions ahead of time and answer any questions once onboard.

Best Return of Experience

Travel budgets on land can be complicated when juggling lodging, transportation, dining and entertainment details, but a cruise usually groups all those together into a single easily digestible fare, some more inclusive than others. If your goal is to not worry about anything once on vacation, a cruise is a perfect way to relax on auto-pilot.
