When it comes to the most popular U.S. destinations for summer, Orlando and Las Vegas' collective reign of dominance continues in 2015.
According to this year's American Society of Travel Agents Hot Spots for Summer survey, Orlando was selected as the No. 1 U.S. destination for the upcoming season by 17 percent of respondents, with Las Vegas taking home 13 percent of the vote.
"Orlando and Las Vegas have not changed since we released our Hot Spots for Winter survey, and in fact, have been on top for 13 years in a row," said ASTA president and CEO Zane Kerby in a statement.
The crowning of Orlando as the No. 1 U.S. summer destination comes less than a week after AAA hotel bookings determined it to be the No. 1 U.S. destination for Spring Break in 2015.
But despite its overwhelming popularity, Orlando doesn't appear content to rest on its laurels, with nearby Walt Disney World set to add a number of exciting new attractions to its theme parks in the coming years.
However, the ASTA's Hots Spots for Summer survey also turned in a new destination this year.
"We are happy to see Washington, D.C., round out the top 10 this year," added Kerby. "ASTA itself will contribute to the destination’s visitor numbers this summer when we bring hundreds of travel agents and suppliers to the nation’s capitol in August for the ASTA Global Convention."
In addition to Washington (two percent), San Francisco (four percent), New York (four percent), Miami (three percent), Los Angeles (two percent), Anaheim (two percent), San Diego (two percent), and New Orleans (two percent) made the top 10 domestically.
As for the hottest summer destinations internationally, London (seven percent), Rome (seven percent), Paris (six percent) and Cancun (four percent) finished among the top four for the 13th consecutive year.
Interestingly, Cancun was also recently selected among the top 10 most popular Spring Break destinations according to Twitter, coming in at No. 3 on the list.
Punta Cana (three percent), Barcelona (one percent), Florence (one percent), Venice (one percent), Dublin (one percent), and Riviera Maya (one percent) rounded out the ASTA's top 10 international hot spots for 2015, with Dublin and Venice knocking out Amsterdam and Montego Bay this year.
