NFL kickers have become easy targets for criticism of late, but the Belize Tourism Board wants to reward one of them with a special invite to Central America.
Kickers across the league missed a combined 18 field goals in Week 4, inspiring Belize tourism officials to come up with a unique promotion. According to the tourism board, the next NFL kicker to miss a field goal or extra point will receive a free trip to Belize.
Belize Vacation announced the promotion via a brief video posted on its official Facebook page Thursday. The video features Belize National Football Team defender Ian Gaynair, who is seen scoring goals with a soccer ball from dozens of yards away.
Gaynair claims that the struggling NFL kickers are thinking too much and just need to relax.
"There is no better place to relax than Belize," Gaynair says.
"In Belize, we love football — both kinds. Which is why we can't bear to watch any more American football kickers struggle...they need to relax," states the video description. "We've teamed up with Belize football (soccer) star Ian Gaynair to make the following offer: The next kicker to miss a field goal or extra point is invited on a trip to Belize."
According to Gaynair, the winner will spend his trip practicing and relaxing on the beach.
Week 5 kicked off Thursday night with a matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans, but Indy's Adam Vinatieri and Houston's Nick Novak were both perfect, meaning the special offer will remain up for grabs into the weekend.
