Best Las Vegas Day Trips to Reconnect With Nature

Sin City may be a lot of things — gambling, showgirls, club scene; sleek hotels — but it’s also a pretty well-connected nature hub. Travel + Leisure has taken notice with an article on the best Las Vegas day trips with some ideal spots to reconnect with the great outdoors.
“No one can beat this city for crazy fun; but what many people don’t know is that it’s also the perfect base for a day-long adventure in nature,” writes Andrea Bennett.
Bennett’s first suggestion is a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon.
“There are myriad tour companies, but the fanciest new trip is in one of Sundance Helicopters’ ultra-modern chromed helicopters with their wraparound glass cockpits, which touch down 3,500 feet in the base of the Grand Canyon for a Champagne lunch, and have you back in three and a half hours,” she notes.
The champagne lunch is a nice touch — a little bit of glitz and glamour as you admire one of Mother Nature’s greatest creations.
Bennett also suggests a hike in the Valley of Fire.
“Hike Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada’s oldest and largest state park, at just the right time of day and you’ll understand why it’s so aptly named,” she notes.

The park is approximately a one-hour drive from Las Vegas and petrified trees and 3,000-year-old petroglyphs.
