There is a trail about to open so magnificent that it can only be called great.
We are referring to Canada’s The Great Trail, which will be complete in 2017, and it already has a fancy website replete with information on its funding campaign as well as a map with the location where you can hop on and enjoy its majesty.
The website gives a brief overview of The Trans Canada Trail, which was an initiative started in 1992 to introduce the world to one of the most impressive trails on the planet – and one that would not only connect the country but offer a new appreciation for the versatile and captivating landscape.
This video does a beautiful job of highlighting what will culminate in its entirety next year:
There is, of course, a map you can scour at the moment that offers various portions of the trail and explains its current status, length and environment you can expect when taking it.
It’s essentially the one resource you need if you plan on hiking even a portion of our northerly neighbor’s magnificence.
From Confederation Trail on Prince Edward Trail to the Whitehorse Copper Trail, we certainly have our glorious gauntlet of hiking trails to enjoy.
As of this writing, the website proclaims that 87 percent of the massive trail is connected. When completed, the trail will consist of 13,00 miles of resplendent opportunity and will be the world’s “largest network of trails,” according to Weather.com.
Start stretching now.
