While Cinco De Mayo has its historic significance in Mexico, it's also essentially just one big party in the U.S.
And what better way to party than by traveling to a new destination?
With May 5th falling on a Friday this year, extend your celebrations into a weekend getaway at any of these great cities who know how to have a good time.

San Antonio, Texas
Experiencing Cinco De Mayo in Texas should be on everyone's party bucket-list, and no city does it better than San Antonio. There are Market Square festivities every month but Cinco De Mayo is when you really want to be there. Concerts and Tex-Mex-what could be better?
Market Square will have you covered all weekend long with parades, music, food, awesome face paint and more. The festival is a great way to feel like you're actually celebrating Cinco De May in Mexico.
Los Angeles, California
It's "go big or go home" in L.A., right? It's no surprise then that the city is home to one of the largest Cinco De Mayo celebrations in America. Fiesta Broadway, in the heart of downtown L.A., is on April 30th this year and has been described as "The Super Bowl of Festivals."
Los Angeles will still have plenty of events taking place the weekend of May 5th, though. For a bar hopping experience unlike any other, LA will have a Cinco De Mayo Pub Crawl through Hollywood while the Plaza de la Raza Gallery will host Lucha Libre Wrestling on Saturday, May 6.
New York, New York
Make your way to New York City for bright lights and fine dining experiences. The Cinco De Mayo Street Fair just outside of Grand Central Terminal is a big hit, as well as the parade through Central Park.
Looking for the big parties? Go to Hudson Terrace for a club rooftop bash or to the Empire Hotel Rooftop Lounge for what they're calling "NYC's largest Cinco de Mayo party."
For something truly wild, Power 105 is throwing a Cinco de Mayo Yacht Party.

Atlanta, Georgia
Want to celebrate Cinco De Mayo in a totally unique way? Come to Atlanta and experience sips under the sea at Georgia Aquarium. Yes, that's right, get your drink on (responsibly of course) while exploring the amazing marine life throughout the aquarium.
Additionally, the ATL will have a "Drinko De Mayo" week long celebration at Tin Lizzy's Cantina while the Inman Park neighborhood will have a couple events with food drinks and music at Pure Taqueria Inman Park and Bartaco Inman Park.
Denver, Colorado
Celebrate Culture is an annual festival presented by the Sante Fe Redevelopment Corporation in Denver. They're celebrating their 30th anniversary on May 6-7, and more than 400,000 are expected to attend the weekend festival, so you know it's going to be a good time.
Some of the events taking place include a taco eating contest, chihuahua races, Children's Carnival and a Green Chili Bowl Cook-Off.
