Croatia: A Paradise for Foodies

Croatia — as this article on BuzzFeed points out — is insanely beautiful. And not just the Dalmatian Coast. The country oozes beauty from top to bottom but, with Croatia, beauty isn’t just skin deep. There’s more to the country than just the scenery and that starts with its fantastically delicious cuisine – a little bit Mediterranean, a little bit Italian and a whole lot of yummy.
In a country poised along the Adriatic Sea, one of your best bets is to start with the seafood, suggests BuzzFeed writer Annie Daly.
“You can’t really go wrong with seafood anything in coastal Croatia,” writes Daly. “That’s because the Adriatic Sea is super fresh; they don’t have any big industries there, so the water is very clean — which means the fish are too.”

She highly recommends the oysters and the octopus as well as the cuttlefish.
But there are some non-seafood items too.
“Burek is a savory phyllo pastry filled with either meat, vegetables, or cheese, and it’s been around since the former Ottoman Empire. (It’s also an amazing drunk munchie food, just sayin’),” notes Daly.
So, come for the scenery – but stay for the pasta, wine, cheese, bread... The list goes on.
