The national parks are probably most popular in the summer months, when families pour in to visit during the summer holiday, but some can be spectacular in the winter, too. Forbes has some suggestions for the best national parks to visit during the winter.
First, head to Acadia National Park.
"You can see the sunrise first in the US from here. Wildlife includes moose, bear, whales and seabirds. A gem is bayside Bar Harbor, with upscale restaurants and shops," suggests Lea Lane.
Check out the hoodoos in Bryce.
"In winter, they can be dusted with snow offering a delicate, surreal beauty. The park's main road leads past the expansive Bryce Amphitheater, a hoodoo-filled depression lying below the Rim Trail hiking path," says Lane.
In California, a park that's not as well known is a highlight.

"Lassen Volcanic National Park (CA) is a lesser-known volcanic beauty spot in northern California, rich in hydrothermal sites like Bumpass Hell, with its acres of bubbling mud pots," says Lane.
