Disney and its customers are ushering in the 2016 New Year with a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Disney Vacation Club.
In a statement from the official website, Disney will debut new special vacation club member events and offers at its theme parks and resorts to commemorate the milestone. Membership Magic will also add new incentives to an already extensive lineup of offerings.
In addition to new events and offers, the Disney Vacation Club will open an exclusive Member Lounge at Epcot, which is scheduled to debut in spring 2016. The lounge will offer members access to device charging stations, complimentary refreshments and other perks.
Disney Vacation Club members will also be offered free theme park and water park events, discounts on multi-day tickets, quarterly giveaways and one-of-a-kind experiences. Disney Vacation Club Senior Vice President and General Manager Ken Potrock spoke about the anniversary:
“Membership Magic gives families even more to love about Disney Vacation Club. Now, for our 25th Anniversary, we're introducing even more amazing membership extras, exclusive experiences and other enhancements that only members and their guests can access. It's our special way of thanking our members for being such a valued part of the Disney Vacation Club family throughout these past two and a half decades.”
Employees and cast members are also focusing more on vacation club members with a redesigned website—now accessible on mobile devices—personalized vacation advice and a new "Last-Minute Magic" webpage meant to help customers find great short-notice deals.
Since making its debut in 1991, the Disney Vacation Club has grown to more than 200,000 member families and offers a flexible, points-based vacation system rather than the traditional fixed-week timeshare model.
