El Salvador continues its bid to boost its tourism offerings in the U.S. market. Recently, the tourism minister, José Napoleón Duarte Durán, officially launched El Salvador's two newest tourism routes: The "San Andrés Maya Underground Experience" and The "Blue Route, Unlimited Adventure."
With this launch, the Ministry of Tourism is seeking to position El Salvador as a fresh destination with a varied touristic offer.
Each of the circuits invites tourists to experience extreme sports and enjoy adventure in an environment surrounded by volcanoes, lakes, mountains and beaches. These tours will also allow visitors to learn and interact with rural communities in the country during a tour that includes intriguing archeological sites.
The archeological tour invites visitors to live the experience of knowing the foundations of some of the oldest surviving constructions in the world.
The "San Andrés Maya Underground Experience" is part of the Archaeological Route of El Salvador, which gives visitors firsthand access to one of the most advanced cultures of humankind: the Mayan Culture.
The main attraction is a tunnel 80 meters long, 2.2 meters high and 1 meter wide, which lets tourists explore the bases of the Acropolis' pyramids from the San Andrés Archaeological Park.
The official presentation of the "Blue Route, Unlimited Adventure" was also made on the same day. This route integrates the relaxing landscapes from El Salvador's north region, along with an interaction with its residents and a light adventurous experience in each of the places that are part of the route, explained the minister of tourism, José Napoleon Duarte Durán.
"For more than 300 years, since colonial times, indigo was the most important mainstay of the national economy. Later it was replaced by synthetic colors, but today is again becoming highly prized since it is a natural pigment. Enterpreneurs along with the Ministry of Tourism have worked together in order to create an attractive tourism offer and leverage the potential the country has to offer to international tourists," he said.
This circuit brings together municipalities of the north and paracentral regions of the Salvadoran territory, each one with unique and attractive offers for tourists looking to disconnect from the bustle of the city.
