Lorde just dropped her newest single - a follow-up to her debut, "Pure Heroine." She is just about to release her sophomore album, but that hasn't stopped her from reaching superstar status and Auckland, New Zealand is this superstar's hometown.
For those looking to see the city through Lorde's eyes, Tourism New Zealand has the lowdown on some of her favorite places to go when she has some downtime.
Start on the North Shore, which is where she grew up. It's a family-friendly beach destination with a number of small towns lining the coast. For swimming and stunning views, head to Takapuna Beach, where you can see Rangitoto Island with its dormant volcano in Waitemata Harbour.
Ponsonby is one of Auckland's most hip and trendy neighborhoods. Head here for a bite to eat, a drink or to shop for fashions from local designers.
Burger Burger is one of the city's best burger joints and has become an Auckland institution, or there's the ultra-modern Orphan's Kitchen.
If you are in the mood to shop, New Zealand designers Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester and Juliette Hogan all have boutiques here.

The answer to the serene beaches of the North Shore is the rugged West Coast. Here you'll find black-sand surfing beaches rather than sleepy swimming ones. Waitakere Ranges Regional Parkland has more than just surf, visitors can walk and hike, see waterfalls and stunning vistas along the coast.
If you are looking for superstar status when it comes to where to stay, take it up a notch at Hurakia Lodge on Rakino, which is accessed by water, float plane or helicopter from the city. The views from the hilltop pool alone are worth splurging on.
