Guest Chef Series Returns to The St. Regis Mexico City’s J&G Grill

J&G Grill, the acclaimed restaurant inspired by international chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, continues to elevate its culinary presence. Through December, the monthly 2016 Chef Series at The St. Regis Mexico City will be hosted by Chef Olivier Deboise Mendez to celebrate contemporary Mexican cuisine, fine wine, spirits and microbrews.
Chef Deboise Mendez and the series’ visiting chefs craft each creative series menu. The collective goal is to captivate and surprise diners with original menus that incorporate unique flavors that are prepared with high quality, locally sourced ingredients.
The 2016 Chef Series culinary venture is expected to elevate the hotel’s roster of dining options to further establish it among the culinary epicenters of Mexico City.
“The 2016 Chef Series celebrates the art of collaboration among friends,” said Chef Deboise Mendez. “I’m very pleased to open my kitchen and cook with some of the best chefs in Mexico to delight J&G Grill patrons.”
Chef Deboise Mendez added, “Each event will be similar to hosting a dinner party at home that’s paired with great wines. Together, we are excited to create menus that reflect the style of each chef duo, providing a special experience each time.
A renowned talented Franco-Mexican gastronomy talent, Chef Deboise Mendez has a resume that includes participation in Mexico’s Millesime gourmet event twice alongside other elite chefs. After presenting in 2014 in the Young Masters category, Chef Deboise Mendez joined a select group of talented and influential culinary gurus the next year in the “Masters” category.
With its Aug. 26 launch, the 2016 series showcased cuisine influences of Chef Eduardo Morali, executive chef at Eloise in Mexico City. Chef Morali was also presented with 2015 Food and Travel People’s Choice Awards’ “Revelation Chef” status.
In September, Mexico´s Independence will star as the theme with J&G Grill presenting guest chefs Benito Molina and Solange Muris from the top gourmet Manzanilla restaurant in Ensenada. Brunch is timed to coincide with Paseo de la Reforma’s iconic parade while patrons savor classic regional dishes utilizing scallops, tuna, shellfish and classic tostadas perfectly paired craft beers from Ensenada’s Wendlant Brewery.
On Nov. 11, Chef Guillermo González Beristaín will link with Chef Deboise Méndez to create a six-course menu with Mariatinto wine pairings. Well known for his Pangea Restaurant that was named as one of Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2015, the chef also serves as a Top Chef Mexico judge.
As a fitting finale to this year’s Chef Series, Australian Chef Paul Bentley of Guadalajara’s Magno Brasserie will join Chef Deboise Méndez in November. Bentley’s self-described cooking style is "elegant contemporary cuisine with a rustic essence.” The culinary pair will reimagine November’s classic Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings.

J&G Grill at The St. Regis Mexico City combines a selection of the specialties dishes from three-starred Michelin Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten – all with a local touch and seasonal menus imagined by Chef Olivier Deboise Mendez.
