If you are considering a trip to Hawaii, you may be planning to spend some time on the beach (and if you aren't, we highly recommend that you do). The Active Times has a list of some of Hawaii's most spectacular beaches to help assist you in your plans.
One of the first beaches that they recommend is on the Big Island. Kauna 'oa Beach, also known as Mauna Kea beach is one of the most perfect white-sand beaches in the Islands.
"This is the perfect beach for sunbathing and watersports such as snorkeling," writes editor Nicole Dossantos. "You can even rent snorkel gear and boogie boards from the beach concession."
Black Sand Beach in Maui is another recommendation.
"It is situated between black lava cliffs and surrounded by tropical flora. It was formed when lava hit the ocean and shattered. It's a very popular destination for tourists and offers incredible photo opportunities," notes Dossantos.
Another suggestion is the iconic Waikiki Beach on Oahu.
"It's a two-mile stretch of gorgeous white sand with eight different sections. Go canoeing, surfing, swimming, kayaking, boogie boarding, or just relax on the beach and reap the benefits of the sun," suggests Dossantos.

Jaws Pe'ahi on Maui is a totally different experience from the snorkeling and swimming white- and black-sand beaches previously mentioned. This is big-wave surfing at its finest. The waves, which can exceed 60 feet, put on their own show as do the surfers who ride them. A visit to Jaws is exhilarating without even getting in the water.
