How To Ring in The Holidays at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

For the last 20 years at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests have been dazzled by the sheer brilliance and brightness of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. For two decades, it was a tradition that completed the holiday season for many families. Sadly that tradition came to an end when Disney announced that they would be completely revamping Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with all new lands based on “Star Wars” and “Toy Story.” While those lands are still under construction, the areas that once held the Osborne Lights are in ruins, leaving families (and the park) with no holiday fun at Hollywood Studios. There goes Christmas.

Don’t put down your Jingle Bells just yet.

Disney announced that not only would they be having Christmas at the park, it would be done in the biggest way possible: with tons of fireworks, and a show like nothing you’ve ever seen! Beginning Nov. 14, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be home to Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! The new show will be hosted by the stars of Disney’s Holiday Special Prep & Landing. The Elves, Wayne and Lanny will guide you through this huge holiday celebration, which will include a look at tons of Disney holiday classics like Nightmare Before Christmas, Mickey’s Christmas Carol, and many more.

The backdrop for the new show will be the iconic Chinese theater at the front of the park. In fact, the backdrop will be the entire front side of the park. The new show will be similar to the current Star Wars Fireworks spectacular, in that it will use digital projection mapping, lasers and fireworks to tell the story of Prep & Landing and the huge Christmas story. The massive set will use the latest in digital image mapping, and bring these amazing stories to life right before your eyes in this huge 30-minute show.

Coincidentally, the Star Wars show will have its last performance right before then, but we are willing to be that it will be back shortly after the new year kicks off. That show has been instrumental in bringing guests to the park, even though ¾ of Hollywood Studios is under construction.

If you’re looking for even more fun, Disney will offer a huge dessert party for guests as well. Nothing says Christmas like cookies and sweet treats. The new dessert party will feature specialty drinks (non-alcoholic of course), great new desserts and reserved premium viewing spots for the new show. Guests who book the dessert party will also get free 3D glasses, which will make the fireworks take new shape. Tickets are on sale now through the official Walt Disney World Dines line at (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463.

As for the Osborne Lights? As of now, there are no plans for them to return. There have been rumors that many of the lights will sparkle along the new pathways of Disney Springs, which is already having their first Halloween celebration. The lights would make for a great addition to the traditional Florida town, and would be free for guests to experience.

Meanwhile, your first chance to see the all new Jingle Bells, Jingle BAM! show will happen Nov. 14-Dec.31.
