Anyone who works a Monday-through-Friday job understands the hatred many people feel for the first day of the work week, but the Spark Your City organization cheered up London by adding colorful tiles to London Bridge last Monday.
According to the Spark Your City official website, BBC Radio 1 presenter Gemma Cairney teamed up with the organization to take over the bridge Sunday night in preparation for the rush of people who would cross it on Monday.
Using a plethora of colorful tiles, the team covered nearly 300 meters of the London Bridge, and even added a sign that welcomed patrons to London with the words "Love Mondays" emblazoned on it.
The official Twitter accounts of Spark Your City, Rachael Holding, and Helen R all shared amazing images of the bridge and the one-of-a-kind artwork walkway:
The tiles remained on the London Bridge for only one day, but this was the first step in a huge project that will help people find joy in everyday city life. The organization plans for another 1,000 similar events in 50 cities by the end of the year.
While details are scarce about the next Spark Your City event, it is scheduled for August 12 in London, and there are two cities in the United States organizers are targeting — New York City and Miami, Florida.
