For the fourth consecutive year, the Los Cabos Tourism Board will sponsor the Los Cabos International Film Festival, a November event whose popularity has grown considerably from year to year. In a new development, the film festival announced a partnership with Marché du Film, a film market that takes place during the annual Cannes Film Festival, to create Los Cabos Goes to Cannes.
As a result of the partnership, the Los Cabos film festival, which this year is slated for Nov. 11 to 15, will select four Mexican films in post-production stages to participate in next year’s Marché du Film.
“Los Cabos Goes to Cannes is a new partnership with Marché du Film, which will allow us to strengthen our role in supporting bold Mexican filmmakers who have the courage to play in the international arena,” said Alonso Aguilar-Castillo, director of Los Cabos International Film Festival. “For the last three years we have been bringing the best of international industry to Cabo. Now, it’s time to bring the best of Cabo to the top markets.”
The new partnership, of course, is good news for the destination itself. “The festival has grown significantly over the past few years and the tourism board is pleased to support the event for the fourth consecutive year,” said Luis Palacios, the Los Cabos Tourism Board commercial director. “This most recent partnership with the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film is great news as it puts the Los Cabos International Film festival and our destination on the map for a very important audience.”
