Los Cabos' New Commercial Director Eyes Expanded Air Routes

As the new commercial director-chief commercial officer for the Los Cabos Tourism Board, Luis Palacios Larrañaga is focused on working toward ensuring that the destination continues to attract ever-increasing numbers of travelers to its shores.

“We will be very focused on bringing in new airline routes to the destination,” said Palacios. “Air connectivity, and coordinating efforts with the airport group, will be a key element for the commercial office of Los Cabos,” said Palacios, adding that the destination has managed to attract more than 500,000 new airline seats from 2011 to 2014.

He added that the tourism board would also continue to further cement and build its ties with the slate of tour operators, agencies and OTAs that currently sell the destination, as well attracting new partners into its fold.

Post Hurricane Odile, Palacios said the majority of the destination’s hotel inventory is back online. “We now have 10,851 rooms available in the destination, with more hotels continuing to open,” he said, adding that One &Only Palmilla is scheduled to reopen April 20. “We have seen many with up to 95 percent occupancy, so the winter season looks better than ever – and with new hotels opening we can say this winter will be one of the best in history of Los Cabos.”

In this year alone, Palacios said that seven new properties will debut, including The Cape, A Thompson Hotel; a Ritz-Carlton Reserve; JW Marriott; Park Hyatt; the Resort at Diamante; and Hard Rock Los Cabos.
